Leather Care

Our furniture is built to last many years, but we often get asked how to best care for it once it is in your home.

Obviously beware of any foodstuffs or liquids coming into contact with the leather, as it is porous and will stain (although it has been sealed during processing). A gentle, occasional vacuum will address any dust that settles in the folds of the upholstery.

Things that dry out the leather are sunlight and extreme heat sources (and certainly central heating!). If the leather feels dry then it may be useful to nourish it – in exactly the same way that we moisturise our own skin.

Here are a few hints and tips to make the leather last longer and perform better:

  • Regular day-to-day cleaning is simple. Use a dry cloth to dust and vacuum in the crevices and along the bottom.

  • Always protect your furniture from sun and direct light.

  • We highly recommend using a good leather conditioner every 6-12 months. There is a wide selection available at www.lakeland.co.uk with this being our favourite: www.lakeland.co.uk/4505/Complete-Leather-Care-Kit (Please always carry out a spot test of any products you might be using on leather).

With the benefit of some occasional TLC your Chesterfield furniture will age gracefully, however should you need any additional information then please do not hesitate to contact us.
